About

Hello, my name is Ivan Toman, and I am a freelance photographer based in Zadar, Croatia. My journey into the world of photography began in 2006 when I acquired my first DSLR camera. Since then, I have been creating captivating images for clients across various niches, all while maintaining my day job as a University professor in Zadar.

I am often referred to as a “retired storm chaser,” having transitioned to primarily focusing on portrait, fashion photography, and covering public events for media and clients. However, my passion for weather and storm-chasing photography remains strong. After all, I am a scientist in this field.

In addition to this, I have experience in photographing real estate, weddings, food establishments, bars, nightclubs, and other commercial photography. Recently, I have begun to delve into the realm of basic videography, although I am still honing my skills in this area.

If you require a photographer to cater to your specific needs, please do not hesitate to get in touch. I speak both Croatian and English and am always eager to answer your questions or discuss potential collaborations. If you’re here simply to appreciate my work, feel free to share it on your social media accounts.

On a professional note, I serve as a University professor in Zadar, where I lecture on selected courses in maritime navigation. I hold a PhD in satellite navigation, specifically in GNSS and their performance changes as a result of volcanic activity. My expertise also extends to meteorology, numerical weather simulations and artificial intelligence systems for weather forecasting, among other scientific areas. For more information about my work in these fields, you can visit my other, more active website, meteoadriatic.net. This site is dedicated to the weather, numerical forecasting, and climate of the Adriatic area.
